World Buddhist Conference – Toronto_June 2017

The 10th Global Buddhist Conference started in Toronto around 6.30 pm Sri Lankan time on 17 June 2017. The first set of talks followed by a discussion was started after the inaugural speeches around 7.00 pm. The topic of this first Panel was ‘Mindfulness its use and misuse: Right and Wrong mindfulness in the Buddha’s words’. There were three Venerable monks in this first session. They were, Most Ven. U. Dhammajiva, Most Ven. Ajahn Brahmavamso and Ven. Yuttadhammo Bhikku.

We are pleased to provide some of the pictures and recordings of the talk given by Most Ven. U. Dhammajiva Maha Thero and the Q&A Session. We have also included the text of the talk given by Most Ven. U. Dhammajiva Maha Thero.

In addition we have provided two video clips of the Maha Thero. The first is a 40 minutes guided meditation/Q&A session. The second is the presentation on Sati Pasela. The Maha Thero particularly emphasized the value of using Mindfulness as a preventive than a therapeutic practice. Mindfulness is widely used in the Western countries as a therapeutic method.
