Most Ven. Ellawala Vijithananda Maha Thero provides an invaluable directive advice on how to develop Vipassana from Anapanasathi meditation in this forty minutes audio clip. This is taken from a session conducted in 2015 at No. 124, Saman Mawatha, Ratmalana. The audio quality of this invaluable sound track has been improved through audio editing.
This audio clip is highly useful due to the following reasons;
- A practitioner of Anapanasathi meditation first develop the Samatha or tranquility through its practice. This is an essential aspect of the practice. However, this level of the practice doesn’t automatically leads to Vipassana.
- Even the development up to the Samatha transition stage could be tricky as the practitioner has to learn through the practice to let go and not to fall asleep.
- Maha Thero advice us as to how to further develop the practice to the Vipassana level. A practitioner may get entrapped in the Samatha stage even without his/her knowledge.
- In addition the Maha Thero shows a way to proceed to Vipassana from Samatha meditations such as Metta and Buddhanussati. Actually he informs that this methodology could be used on any form of Samatha meditation.
Also included is a booklet in PDF format on Anapanasathi written by the Ven. Maha Thero. Please click here to download it.

Dear Kalyana Mithra
Rev Ellawala Thero Mentioned that he has written a four page article on ආනාපානසති භාවනාව විපස්සනාවට යොමුකරන ආකාරය.
Can you please give me the link to read that document.
Thanking

Dear Mr. Darmapala,
I too tried to find that document. I couldn’t find the document at the time. I have found it now and will include it in the web page itself.
