These are the questions and Answers in English conducted at the December 2017 meditation retreat at Brisbane, Australia. This seven day long residential retreat was conducted by Most Ven. U. Dhammajiva Maha Thero of Mitirigala Nissaranavanaya Forest Monastery, Sri Lanka.
The retreat was primarily conducted in Sinhalese language. The Dhamma sermons were based on Dasuttara Sutta. Most Ven. U. Dhammajiva Maha Thero is conducting a very long analysis of Dasuttara Sutta over a long period. A part of the Sutta was taken for discussion for the 54th occasion during this retreat at Brisbane in December 2017.
Dasuttara Sutta is the 34th or the last Sutta of Digha Nikaya preached by the Chief Disciple Most Ven. Sariputta at the Gaggarāpokkharani in Campā, in the presence of the Lord Buddha. It is said that at the end of the discourse five hundred monks became Arahants.
The Sutta consists of groups of doctrines – ten single doctrines, ten twofold doctrines, and so on up to ten tenfold. The Sutta is mentioned as describing the pārisuddhipadhāniyanga.
