Uddesa-vibhanga Sutta – September 2022

Uddesa-vibhanga Sutta was selected by Ven. Panadure Chandaratana Thero of Mitirigala Nissarana Vanaya Forest Monastery as the next Sutta for Sutta Teachings in English.  The series was started on 07 September 2022 and completed on 14th September 2022.

The Ven. Thero selected this Sutta with the intention of explaining important aspects of Samadhi as expounded by the Supreme Buddha.

In Uddesa-vibhanga Sutta the Supreme Buddha explains How to be Mindful BOTH externally and internally.  According to the summary statement given by the Supreme Buddha, a monk should avoid being scattered externally or getting stuck internally in order to attain the Liberation. Later, Ven. Mahā Kaccāna explains that summary statement as one could get scattered externally due to gratification provided by the sense objects or one can get stuck internally due to Jhana factors.
