Thilakshana Desana_Oct 2012

We are very pleased to provide another valuable Dhamma series of Most Ven U Dhammajiva Maha Thero. These recordings are from a short two day retreat conducted at Ambuluwava, Gampola, Sri Lanka. The recordings are very valuable primarily to the serious Dhamma practitioners. There are two Dhamma talks and a Dhamma discussion recorded at the retreat. The Dhamma Discussion is valuable even to some educationists and management practitioners to some extent.

The Dhamma Discussion is the first recorded ‘Group Interview’ conducted by the Maha Thero. In this, the Maha Thero encourages the Yogis to explain their meditative experiences openly for the benefit of the group. The interview is handled by the Thero according to the Vipassana interview system practiced by U Panditha Sayadaw. It is incisive and deeply penetrating and encourages the Yogi on the Path. It guides the practitioner to focus at a very deep level in the present moment leading to higher levels of sustained attention and concentration. This interview method also helps to develop analytical abilities of the practitioners. These aspects of higher concentration, sustained attention and the development of keen analytical abilities could be of use to some educationists and management practitioners (maybe from a more worldly sense).

The Dhamma Discussion of this invaluable short series was only partially recorded in primary recorder used for the sessions. Mrs Rupa Weerasooriya, a Yogini from Canada who attended the retreat was kind enough to send us her own recordings of the session from Canada. We are very grateful for this support and kindness.

The audio editing of this very valuable Dhamma series was kindly sponsored by Mrs Isha Suriyaperuma of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
