A Discourse on Appropriate Attention

4449980320 77b6551d52 bWe are pleased to provide a short sutta discourse conducted by Most Ven. U. Dhammajiva Maha Thero at Mitirigala Nissaranavanaya Forest Monastery. This was conducted during a short residential meditation retreat during July 2014. The short Sutta based on this discourse is without a name. This was the 75th Retreat conducted at the monastery. The special significance of this Sutta is its focus on Ayoniso Manasikara (inappropriate attention) and Yoniso Manasikara (appropriate attention). Appropriate Attention is a condition for the Right View. The Buddha has called this ability – Yoniso Manasikara as an inner quality that helps for untangling suffering and gaining release unlike any other quality.  As such this discourse is invaluable as a reference material to the practicing Buddhists.
